Silke Roth

photoSilke Roth is Associate Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology at the University of Southampton (UK). She is interested in meaningful work and engagement for social justice. Her areas of research include the participation in and the impact of voluntary organisations, social movements and non-governmental organizations. Her latest book  The Paradoxes of Aid Work. Passionate Professionals  combines a life-history perspective on personal, political, and professional developments in humanitarian assistance with a study of the increasing importance of transnational organizations.
