Cem Emrence is a political sociologist with interests in state formation, violence, and collective mobilization. His research focuses on modern Turkey and the larger Middle East. His new book, Zones of Rebellion, is on Kurdish armed contention in contemporary Turkey (Cornell University Press, 2015).
