Robert W. White

Robert is a Professor of Sociology and Director, Motorsports Studies, IU School of Liberal Arts, IUPUI.  He is the author of Ruairí Ó Brádaigh, The Life and Politics of an Irish Revolutionary (2006), Provisional Irish Republicans: An Oral and Interpretive History (1993), and co-editor (with Sheldon Stryker and Tim Owens) of Self, Identity, and Social Movements (2000).  His scholarly articles include, “Researching the causes and consequences of small group political violence,” Terrorism and Political Violence (2011), and “Structural Identity Theory and the Post-Recruitment Activism of Irish Republicans.” Social Problems (2010; winner of the Outstanding Article Award, ASA Section on Collective Behavior and Social Movements).
