Peter Dreier

Peter is the Dr. E.P. Clapp Distinguished Professor of Politics, and chair of the Urban & Environmental Policy Department, at Occidental College.  He earned his PhD. in sociology from the University of Chicago.  In addition to his latest book, The 100 Greatest Americans of the 20^th Century: A Social Justice Hall of Fame (Nation Books, 2012), he has co-authored three books on urban politics and policy. He writes frequently for The Nation, American Prospect, the Los Angeles Times, New Labor Forum, Truthout, and Huffington Post.  He is co-chair of the Cry Wolf Project and works with a number of labor, community organizing, and public interest groups engaged in strategic issue campaigns and movement-building. He earned his Ph.D. in sociology and urban studies at the University of Chicago.
