Nancy Whittier

Nancy is Professor of Sociology at Smith College and current Chair of the CBSM Section for the American Sociological Association. She is the author of The Politics of Child Sexual Abuse: Emotions, Social Movements and the State (Oxford University Press, 2009), which received the 2010 Charles Tilly Award for Best Book in Collective Behavior and Social Movements from the Collective Behavior and Social Movements Section of the American Sociological Association; and Feminist Generations: The Persistence of the Radical Women’s Movement (Temple University Press, 1995).  She is currently working on a book about feminist and conservative engagement with public policy related to sexual violence in the U.S.
