Michael T. Heaney


Michael T. Heaney is Assistant Professor of Organizational Studies and Political Science at the University of Michigan.  His work draws upon insights from political science and sociology to examine the dynamics of social movements, political parties, and interest groups.  His book with Fabio Rojas, Party in the Street: The Antiwar Movement and the Democratic Party after 9/11 (Cambridge University Press, 2015), was a recipient of the 2016 Leon Epstein Outstanding Book Award of the American Political Science Association and named one of the Top 25 [Academic] Books of 2015 by Choice.  His current projects examine the contentious politics of national party conventions in the United Sates and the partisan politics of coalitions lobbying the U.S. Congress.
