Marian Azab

I am a PhD Candidate in Sociology at the University of New Mexico. I study social movement processes in the US and the Arab World. I am especially interested in how racialization, gender, state as well as non-state repression, and emotions shape differential recruitment in high-risk contexts. My published work has examined these issues for Arab Americans in the post-9/11 era and my dissertation extends this inquiry to the 18-day Egyptian uprising of 2011.
