Jeff Goodwin is Professor of Sociology at New York University and is currently chair of the Collective Behavior and Social Movements section of the American Sociological Association. He is currently finishing a book titled The Choice of Terror (Russell Sage Foundation). His book No Other Way Out: States and Revolutionary Movements, 1945-1991 (Cambridge University Press, 2001), won the Outstanding Book Prize of the Collective Behavior and Social Movements section of the ASA. He is the coeditor, with James Jasper, of Contention in Context (Stanford, 2012), The Social Movements Reader, 2nd ed. (Wiley-Blackwell, 2009) and Rethinking Social Movements (Rowman & Littlefield, 2004).
