Erin Evans is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at San Diego Mesa College and Chair of the Animals & Society section of the American Sociological Association. Her research specializations are social movements, institutionalization, and sociology of science. Specifically, I interrogate incrementalist approaches to policy reform and identify the effects of institutionalizing activists’ demands through laws and policies related to laboratory science and healthcare. Applied Sociology underpins my courses. My students explore power and society through a solutions-based and hands-on approach, where I encourage them to explore social issues they are passionate about through a sociological lens.
