Daniel Ritter is Assistant Professor of Sociology at Stockholm University and a visiting fellow at the Centre of International Studies at the London School of Economics. His primary research interests are revolutions and social movements, and, in particular, the international contexts in which domestic contentious politics play out. Prior to joining Stockholm University in 2016, Daniel spent two years at the University of Nottingham as an Assistant Professor of Politics and International Relations. He earned his PhD in sociology from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2010 and has held postdoctoral positions at Stockholm University and the European University Institute in Florence. His first book, The Iron Cage of Liberalism: International Politics and Unarmed Revolutions in the Middle East and North Africa, was published by Oxford University Press in 2015.
