Andrea Ballestero

BallesteroAndrea is Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Rice University. Her research examines how legality, technical water knowledge, economics, and morality are intertwined through regulatory processes inspired by the idea of “water for all.” Her work on knowledge forms has looked at the productivities of non-religious faith in water politics (SAR Press, 2012) and the role of  laughter and numbers in the development of indicators by NGOs (PoLAR Vol. 35 Iss.2, 2012). She has conducted fieldwork amongst NGOs, technocrats, scientists, and corporate representatives involved in water sector reform in Costa Rica, Brazil and Sweden.
