Alexander Halavais

Alexander  is associate professor in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Arizona State University, where he researches ways in which social media change the nature of scholarship and learning, and allow for new forms of collaboration and self-government. He serves as the president of the Association of Internet Researchers, and is affiliated with the Digital Media and Learning Hub at the University of California and the Learning Sciences Institute at ASU. His most recent book was Search Engine Society (Polity, 2008), and he is working on a book tentatively titled Participatory Surveillance.
