Cal is Professor of Law (in Jurisprudence and Social Policy) and Sociology, and Director of the Center for the Study of Law and Society at the University of California, Berkeley. He has published widely in the fields of sociology, law and society, organizational studies, and anthropology. His work focuses on the emergence and handling of social conflict, with particular implications for the study of organizational and institutional change.
